Biography
Andre Hicks, known as Mac Dre, was a pioneering rapper and producer from Vallejo, California, and a central figure in the Bay Area's hyphy movement. He began his career in 1989, gaining local acclaim before a controversial prison sentence in 1992, during which he recorded an album over the phone. After his release, he founded #Romp Records# and later the highly influential #Thizz Entertainment#. His eccentric, high-energy style and prolific output, including albums like 'Thizzelle Washington' and 'Ronald Dregan: Dreganomics', defined a regional sound and inspired a generation of artists like *E-40* and *Keak da Sneak* before his unsolved murder in 2004.
