Melodic Energy Commission

Biography

Melodic Energy Commission was a British Columbia space rock collective active in the late 1970s, formed as a recording project in 1977. Built around Xaliman with former *Hawkwind* synthesizer player Del Dettmar, theremin builder George McDonald and multi-instrumentalist Randy Raine-Reusch, the group blended psychedelic folk, chamber instruments and analogue electronics. Their two albums, 'Stranger in Mystery' from 1979 and 'Migration of the Snails' from 1980, were reissued decades later to renewed interest.
