Michael Gira is an American singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist, celebrated as the founder and leader of the seminal experimental rock band Swans. Emerging from New York's No Wave scene, Gira's early work was defined by sonic brutality and confrontational themes, as heard on albums like 'Filth'.
