Biography
Modjo was a French house duo from Paris, active from 1999 to 2003, consisting of producer Romain Tranchart and singer Yann Destagnol. Part of the French touch wave, the pair built songs around disco samples, live guitar and English language vocals. Their best known recording, 'Lady (Hear Me Tonight)' from 2000, samples *Chic* and preceded their only studio album, 'Modjo', released in 2001 on #Sound of Barclay#. Singles including 'Chillin'' and 'What I Mean' followed before the duo separated in 2003, Tranchart turning to production for other artists and Destagnol to a solo career.
