Biography

Motörhead were an English rock band formed in London in 1975 by bassist and singer *Lemmy* Kilmister, who remained the band's only constant member until his death. Usually a trio, the band first found success with guitarist 'Fast' Eddie Clarke and drummer Phil 'Philthy Animal' Taylor on albums including 'Overkill' and 'Bomber' in 1979 and 'Ace of Spades' in 1980, records that helped shape the new wave of British heavy metal and influenced thrash and speed metal. Later lineups centred on guitarist Phil Campbell, who joined in 1984, and drummer Mikkey Dee, who joined in 1992. That final lineup recorded together for twenty years, ending with 'Bad Magic' in 2015. *Lemmy* died on 28 December 2015 in Los Angeles, and Campbell and Dee confirmed the next day that Motörhead had disbanded.
