Biography
Stand-up comedian and singer character created and portrayed by American entertainer Gregg Turkington. With his comb-over, tuxedo, throat clearing and deliberately awful celebrity jokes, Neil Hamburger is a landmark of anti-comedy, developed in the 1990s as a recording project before becoming a live act. His albums for #Drag City# include 'America's Funnyman' (1996) and 'Left for Dead in Malaysia' (1999), alongside later singing records such as 'Neil Hamburger Sings Country Winners' (2009). The persona also inspired the feature film 'Entertainment' (2015), in which Turkington starred.
