Oneness of Juju

Biography

Oneness of Juju is a Richmond, Virginia jazz funk group led by saxophonist James 'Plunky' Branch, renamed in 1974 from his earlier collective Juju. On #Black Fire Records# the group fused African percussion, spiritual jazz, soul and R&B on 'African Rhythms' in 1975, a cult classic whose title track became a Washington radio theme. 'Space Jungle Luv' in 1976 added funk, highlife and Latin rhythms. Later billed as Plunky and Oneness of Juju, the group reached the British soul charts with 'Every Way But Loose'.
