Biography
P16.D4 were a Frankfurt collective led by Ralf Wehowsky, active from 1980 to 1988, who turned punk and Neue Deutsche Welle beginnings into abstract tape music. Working through the #Selektion# collective, they solicited recordings from international correspondents, then cut, looped, distorted and recomposed them, building albums such as 'Kühe in 1/2 Trauer' and 'Distruct' from the results. Their improvised, anti professional method made them central figures in the European industrial tape network of the 1980s.
