Biography
Patricia Barber is a Chicago jazz singer, pianist and composer born in Chicago in 1955. Trained in classical piano at the University of Iowa, she returned to Chicago clubs in the 1980s and self-released 'Split' in 1989. Albums including 'A Distortion of Love', 'Caf茅 Blue', 'Modern Cool' and 'Nightclub' established her dry, intimate delivery and harmonically restless piano style. Her later work on #Blue Note Records# and #Concord Records#, including 'Mythologies' and 'Smash', together with a 2003 Guggenheim Fellowship, secured her reputation as one of the most individual voices in contemporary jazz.
