Biography
People Under the Stairs was a Los Angeles hip hop duo of Thes One (Christopher Portugal) and Double K (Michael Turner), active from 1997 to 2019. Self produced and fiercely independent, they released twelve albums of sample based, good humoured hip hop, from 'The Next Step' through 'O.S.T.' and 'Question in the Form of an Answer' to their farewell 'Sincerely, The P'. The group ended with that 2019 album, and Double K died in 2021, closing one of underground rap's most self sufficient careers.
