Biography
Placebo was the Belgian jazz-funk band led by keyboardist Marc Moulin, formed in 1971 and unrelated to the British band of the same name. With a rotating cast of top Belgian jazz players, the group recorded 'Ball of Eyes', '1973' and 'Placebo' between 1971 and 1974, blending Fender Rhodes, horns and tight funk rhythms. The records sank into obscurity before rare-groove collectors and hip-hop samplers revived them decades later.
