Polaris

Biography

Japanese dream pop band centred on vocalist Yusuke Oya, formerly of *LaB LIFe*, and bassist Yuzuru Kashiwabara, formerly of *Fishmans*. Polaris pair Oya's gentle vocals with Kashiwabara's melodic bass in spacious, dub-tinged arrangements, and are often regarded as a spiritual successor to *Fishmans*. Their early releases include a self-titled EP in 2001 and the album 'Home' in 2002. The band record and perform intermittently with supporting musicians gathered around the central duo, and remain a cult presence in Japanese indie music, valued for their calm, floating sound.
