Biography

American singer-songwriter (1939–2012), born Philip Wallach Blondheim III, who began in the folk trio The Journeymen alongside *John Phillips* before going solo. His 1967 single 'San Francisco (Be Sure to Wear Flowers in Your Hair)', written and produced by Phillips for #Ode#, became the anthem of the Summer of Love and a worldwide hit, far outstripping his album career. McKenzie later toured for over a decade with the re-formed *The Mamas & the Papas* and co-wrote *The Beach Boys*' 1988 chart-topper 'Kokomo'.
