Setting

Setting is an American instrumental trio formed in Durham, North Carolina, in 2021. The band consists of multi-instrumentalists *Nathan Bowles*, *Jaime Fennelly*, and *Joe Westerlund*. Born from improvisational sessions, their music blends ambient drone, complex rhythmic interplay, and folk aesthetics, often making it difficult to distinguish individual instruments from the unified sonic presence. Their debut album, 'Shone a Rainbow Light On', was released in 2023 on the #Paradise of Bachelors# label to critical acclaim. The group signed with #Thrill Jockey# for a forthcoming album.
