Sidney Bechet & Claude Luter

Biography

A duo billing for the Paris sessions of New Orleans pioneer Sidney Bechet (1897-1959) with French clarinettist Claude Luter (1923-2006) and his orchestra. Recorded for #Vogue# in the early 1950s, after Bechet settled in France, their records of New Orleans standards became cornerstones of the French traditional-jazz revival. The duo format paired Bechet's soprano saxophone and clarinet with Luter's clarinet-led band.
