Biography
Socrates Drank the Conium was a Greek hard rock band formed in Athens in 1969 by guitarist Yannis Spathas and bassist and vocalist Antonis Tourkogiorgis. Their early #Polydor# albums 'Socrates Drank the Conium' (1971), 'Taste of Conium' (1972) and 'On the Wings' (1973) fused blues and psychedelia with Greek folk colouring, and as Socrates they made the progressive landmark 'Phos' (1976) with *Vangelis*. Later albums 'Waiting for Something' (1980), 'Breaking Through' (1981) and 'Plaza' (1983) preceded a split and later reunion concerts.
