Biography
Sote is the alias of Ata Ebtekar (born 1972, Hamburg), an Iranian electronic composer and sound artist based in Tehran. After early techno releases as Atax, his single 'Electric Deaf' arrived on #Warp Records# in 2002. Albums such as 'Dastgaah', 'Architectonic' and 'Parallel Persia' fuse Persian classical tunings and folk melody with electro-acoustic processing, microtonality and polyrhythm, deconstructing tradition inside modular electronic systems. He has released music on #Sub Rosa#, #Morphine Records# and #Opal Tapes#, and has championed Iran's electronic pioneers through compilations and performances of *Alireza Mashayekhi*'s work.
