Biography
Strawberry Switchblade were a Glasgow pop duo, Rose McDowall and Jill Bryson, active from 1981 to 1986. Both members sang and played guitar on all their recordings. After the independent single 'Trees and Flowers' (1983) they signed to #WEA# and reached No. 5 in the UK chart with 'Since Yesterday'. Their sole studio album, 'Strawberry Switchblade' (1985), wrapped melancholic songs in colourful synth-pop and a famous polka-dot image. The duo split in 1986; McDowall later worked widely in neofolk and experimental music.
