Biography
That Petrol Emotion were a London based band formed in Derry, Northern Ireland in 1984 by former *The Undertones* guitarists John and Damian O'Neill with Raymond Gorman, drummer Ciaran McLaughlin and American vocalist Steve Mack. Their fusion of post-punk, garage rock and dance rhythms carried explicitly political lyrics about Northern Ireland. 'Manic Pop Thrill' (1986) topped the UK indie chart and 'Babble' (1987) produced their best known single, 'Big Decision'. John O'Neill left in 1988; the band continued through 'Fireproof' (1993), split in 1994 and briefly reformed between 2008 and 2010.
