Biography

The Andrews Sisters were an American close-harmony trio from Minneapolis: LaVerne Andrews (contralto), Maxene Andrews (high harmony) and Patty Andrews (lead). From their 1937 breakthrough 'Bei Mir Bist Du Schön' on #Decca#, they became the defining female vocal group of the swing era, with hits including 'Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy' and 'Rum and Coca-Cola', and tireless wartime performances for Allied troops before their final split in 1967.
