Biography
The Awakening was a Chicago jazz sextet of the early 1970s, co-led by Ken Chaney (keyboards) and Frank Gordon (trumpet) with Ari Brown, Steve Galloway and Arlington Davis Jr., and the only group signed to #Black Jazz Records#. Its two albums, 'Hear, Sense and Feel' (1972) and 'Mirage' (1973), blend spiritual jazz with AACM openness. This is the jazz group, not the South African gothic band of the same name.
