Biography
The HIRS Collective is a Philadelphia-based queercore and grindcore collective formed in 2011. Operating with a fluid lineup and a core duo of Jenna Pup and Esem, the group champions anti-authoritarian, feminist, and queer/trans politics. Their music is a volatile mix of powerviolence, hardcore, and thrash, often delivered in dozens of sub-minute blasts. They are known for their prolific output and highly collaborative nature, culminating in albums like 'Friends. Lovers. Favorites.' and 'We're Still Here' released via labels like #SRA Records# and #Get Better Records#. These albums feature a vast array of guest artists, embodying their ethos that once you work with the collective, you are the collective.
