Biography
London pub rock band formed in Islington in 1977 by Bill Hurley, Peter Gunn, Tony Oliver and Ben Donnelly. The Inmates revived 1960s R&B and garage rock, breaking through with a cover of 'Dirty Water' and the album 'First Offence'. Despite singer Bill Hurley's illness and a spell fronted by Barrie Masters in the 1980s, the band kept recording and touring, especially in continental Europe.
