Biography
The Pale Fountains were a Liverpool pop group formed in 1980 by singer and songwriter Michael Head with bassist Chris McCaffery and drummer Thomas Whelan. Signed to #Virgin Records# in 1982, they recorded two albums, the bossa nova inflected 'Pacific Street' in 1984 and '...From Across the Kitchen Table' in 1985, the second produced by *Ian Broudie*. Their orchestrated, sixties influenced quiet pop reached only a small audience before the band split in 1987, after which Head formed *Shack*. Both albums have since gained a durable critical reputation.
