American synth punk band formed in Boulder, Colorado, in 1995 by former *Angel Hair* members Sonny Kay and Josh Hughes, with Andrew Rothbard and Dave Clifford. The VSS mixed hardcore punk with horror film keyboards, vocal effects and a famous light show. Their only full-length album, 'Nervous Circuits' (1997), appeared on #Honey Bear Records# before the band split the same year, and its influence reached later acts such as *The Faint*.
