Tuomari Nurmio, born Hannu Juhani Nurmio in Helsinki on 21 November 1950, is a Finnish singer and songwriter whose name, meaning 'Judge Nurmio', reflects his law degree. From his 1979 debut 'Kohdusta hautaan' onward he has blended American roots music, blues and new wave with literary Finnish lyrics about Helsinki street life, becoming one of Finland's most celebrated and distinctive rock songwriters.
