Biography
Vainica Doble was a Spanish duo of Gloria van Aerssen and Carmen Santonja, formed in Madrid in 1966. Writing together from their student days, they built a singular catalogue of folk and psychedelic pop with poetic, whimsical lyrics, from the debut 'Vainica Doble' (1971) through 'Heliotropo' (1973) and 'Contracorriente' (1976) to 'En familia' (2000). Carmen Santonja died on 23 July 2000, and the duo's work became a touchstone for Spanish independent pop.
