Biography
The Vienna Art Orchestra was an Austrian jazz ensemble founded in 1977 by composer Mathias R眉egg, who led it until financial pressures ended the band in 2010. Moving between big band and small combo formats, it recorded more than 35 albums, from the #hatART# releases of the 1980s to programmes devoted to *Duke Ellington*, *Charles Mingus* and *Erik Satie*, and was regarded as one of Europe's most innovative orchestras.
