Biography
Whiplash is an American thrash metal band from Passaic, New Jersey, formed in 1984 around guitarist and singer Tony Portaro. The original trio of Portaro, bassist Tony Bono and drummer Tony Scaglione debuted on #Roadrunner# with 'Power and Pain' in 1986, followed by 'Ticket to Mayhem' and 'Insult to Injury'. Despite splits, line-up churn and Bono's death in 2002, Portaro has repeatedly reformed the band, releasing 'Unborn Again' in 2009 and announcing 'Roar' for 2026.
