Biography
X-Legged Sally was a Belgian avant-garde rock and jazz band founded in 1988 by composer and clarinettist Peter Vermeersch to perform his music for dance productions, including those of choreographer Wim Vandekeybus and his company Ultima Vez. The band's first two albums, 'Slow-Up' (1991) and 'Killed by Charity' (1993), were produced by *Bill Laswell* for #Sub Rosa# and brought international attention. 'Eggs and Ashes' (1994) collected music for three Vandekeybus productions, and 'The Land of the Giant Dwarfs' (1995) was the group's American debut. After a farewell concert in Bruges on 20 April 1996, released as the live album 'Fired', the band issued a final album with the *Smith Quartet*, 'Bereft of a Blissful Union' (1997), and split.
