Album Notes & Community Reviews

A comprehensive two-disc anthology, 'Push Barman to Open Old Wounds' gathers all seven of the Scottish indie group's highly acclaimed EPs released under the Jeepster label between 1997 and 2001. Stuart Murdoch's witty, literary narratives are backed by lush chamber-pop orchestration, recalling the fragile melodies of 1960s baroque pop. Because they rarely included these tracks on their formal studio albums, the collection is widely considered an essential pillar of their discography.
