The Hammer Party

Combining the group's first two brutal mid-1980s EPs—'Lungs' and 'Bulldozer'—alongside the 'Racacer' 12-inch, 'The Hammer Party' maps the ferocious origins of Steve Albini's legendary noise-rock outfit. Big Black famously utilized a relentless Roland TR-606 drum machine to back their incredibly harsh, metallic guitar scraping and deeply misanthropic lyrical narratives. The compilation laid the extreme, uncompromising groundwork for the heavy industrial-punk aesthetic they would perfect on 'Atomizer'.
