Compiling their complete, highly obscure output of early-90s 7-inch singles, 'Burner' serves as the sole full-length document of the intensely technical Richmond trio. Breadwinner essentially invented the instrumental 'math rock' subgenre by aggressively stripping away vocals and standard verse-chorus structures in favor of dizzying, complex time signatures and metallic guitar dissonance. The remarkably precise, punishing recordings heavily influenced the entire subsequent math-rock and math-metal landscapes.
