Album Notes & Community Reviews

This vital compilation perfectly captures the razor-sharp, telecaster-driven aesthetic that established the Bakersfield Sound as a raw, gritty counter-movement to the heavily orchestrated Nashville establishment. Featuring his early string of massive consecutive number-one hits like 'Act Naturally,' the remarkably tight, fiercely energetic collection permanently redefined modern country music instrumentation and profoundly influenced the subsequent emergence of country-rock.
