Album Notes & Community Reviews

Released on Savoy Records, this compilation documents collaborative 1954 and 1955 sessions that bridged the gap between bebop conventions and avant-garde classicism. The intricate, exploratory arrangements foreshadow the highly ambitious compositional style Mingus would fully realize later in the decade.
