Originally released as two separate LPs in 1969, this compilation reunites Don Cherry's deeply mystical Paris recording sessions. Performing in a highly intuitive duo setting alongside percussionist Ed Blackwell, Cherry abandons traditional jazz structures to incorporate bamboo flutes, bells, and indigenous pan-global instrumentation. The sprawling, highly spiritual improvisations established a profound new template for the integration of global folk traditions within the avant-garde jazz movement.
