Album Notes & Community Reviews

Although released decades after the actual studio dates, 'The Sun Sessions' is universally recognized as one of the most important documents in popular music history. Capturing Elvis Presley's legendary 1954 and 1955 recordings at Sam Phillips's Memphis studio, the compilation chronicles the precise moment country and rhythm & blues violently collided to create rockabilly. Stripped of the orchestral polish that defined his later RCA hits, these sparse, echoing tracks fundamentally altered global youth culture.
