Album Notes & Community Reviews
'The Minstrel Man from Georgia' gathers twenty songs Emmett Miller recorded in New York in 1928 and 1929 for OKeh, backed by the Georgia Crackers with Jimmy and Tommy Dorsey, Gene Krupa, Jack Teagarden and Eddie Lang among the sidemen. Miller's 'Lovesick Blues' shaped Hank Williams's later hit version, and the compilation adds six tracks to the earlier 1969 Miller collection, with liner notes by musicologist Charles Wolfe.
