Album Notes & Community Reviews
Highlighting a huge, muscular tenor saxophone tone deeply rooted in the blues, this collection bridges the gap between aggressive bebop and soulful R&B. The artist's emotionally direct phrasing and swinging confidence established a crucial template for the hard bop and soul-jazz movements of the following years.
