Beyond the Sunset

Album Notes & Community Reviews

This profoundly unique posthumous compilation explicitly focuses on the legendary country singer's recordings released under his 'Luke the Drifter' alter ego. The collection eschews his famous honky-tonk anthems in favor of heavily moralistic spoken-word recitations, religious allegories, and somber country gospel, offering a fascinating glimpse into the deep, philosophical Southern spirituality that underlined his often tragic public persona.
