The Real Folk Blues
by Howlin' Wolf
Assembled by Chess Records to capitalize on the burgeoning 1960s folk and blues revival, this release compiles some of Howlin' Wolf's most ferociously electric recordings from the previous decade. The collection heavily features the towering, abrasive vocals of Chester Burnett colliding with Hubert Sumlin's razor-sharp guitar lines, many penned by Willie Dixon. It served as a massive, direct inspiration for the British rhythm and blues invasion.
