Album Notes & Community Reviews

Released specifically to capitalize on the rampant sampling of James Brown's catalog by late-1980s hip-hop producers, 'In the Jungle Groove' compiles essential, elongated studio jams from his pivotal 1969-1971 era. The album famously includes a heavily remixed, extended version of 'Funky Drummer', prominently featuring Clyde Stubblefield's legendary drum break. The compilation is considered a Rosetta Stone for modern hip-hop production and a masterclass in relentless funk syncopation.
