Folk Blues

Album Notes & Community Reviews

Released on the budget Crown label, this compilation repackages highly raw, deeply atmospheric recordings originally cut for Modern Records in the early 1950s. The tracks perfectly showcase the solitary bluesman's intensely hypnotic, highly idiosyncratic electric style, relying heavily on heavily droning, single-chord vamps and heavily reverbed, almost mumbled vocals to generate a profound sense of dark, rhythmic tension.
