Serving as his debut full-length release for the Vee-Jay label, 'I'm John Lee Hooker' compiles a potent series of singles recorded throughout the late 1950s. The record heavily features his signature, foot-stomping boogie rhythms and intensely repetitive, hypnotic guitar grooves. Stripped of the heavier full-band arrangements he would later adopt, these raw, driving tracks had a monumental influence on the impending British blues-rock explosion.
