Album Notes & Community Reviews

Released by Chess Records, this compilation assembles tracks recorded primarily in the early 1950s when Hooker was operating under various pseudonyms. The collection captures his hypnotic, single-chord Delta blues structures and rhythmic foot-stomping before his transition to larger, electrified ensembles.
