Album Notes & Community Reviews

Issued by Sun Records three years after the singer had already defected to Columbia, this compilation was a deliberate label cash-in utilizing unreleased outtakes and early recordings. Despite its piecemeal origins, the collection provides a fascinating, raw glimpse into his formative, heavily stripped-down 'boom-chicka-boom' sound and the developing, deeply resonant gravitas of his early rockabilly and country crossover material.
