Album Notes & Community Reviews

Condensing the monumental MCA catalog of the jump blues pioneer, this archival project reasserts his status as a direct, essential precursor to rock and roll. The relentlessly driving rhythms, swinging horn charts, and humorous lyrical storytelling defined the absolute peak of 1940s R&B crossover success.
