Album Notes & Community Reviews

Curated by Chess Records to explicitly appeal to the 1960s folk revival audience, this collection intentionally bypasses the artist's polished recent hits in favor of his grittier, heavily stripped-down earlier recordings. The intensely raw, acoustic-leaning Delta and electric Chicago blues tracks brilliantly highlight the imposing, visceral power that cemented his reputation as one of the genre's most formidable architects.
