Album Notes & Community Reviews

Strictly sequencing their first eighteen UK hit singles in chronological order, this compilation underscores the flawless pop architecture of Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe. The record beautifully maps their lyrical juxtaposition of deadpan, literary melancholy with the euphoric, driving synthesizers of 1980s club culture. Standing as one of the most consistently brilliant greatest-hits collections of its era, it perfectly encapsulates their transition from underground Hi-NRG to massive mainstream dominance.
