Album Notes & Community Reviews

A landmark archival release, 'The Complete Recordings' gathers all 41 existing vocal takes and alternate masters from the legendary Delta bluesman's brief 1936-1937 recording sessions. Selling unexpectedly well upon release, the box set helped mythologize Johnson's legacy while showcasing his sophisticated fingerpicking techniques and intensely haunted vocal delivery. It serves as an unvarnished testament to the profound stylistic origins of modern rock music.
